Abstract
Analytic expressions are given for mapping between the macroscopic Hamiltonian of an axially symmetric rotor and a microscopic SU(3) contains/implies SO(3) integrity basis interaction. No special assumptions are made regarding the nature of the rotation; it could be rigid-rotor-like, irrotational or an intermediate form. Under the mapping, invariants of the collective model are carried over into Casimir invariants of the algebraic theory. The results are applicable to both boson and fermion realisations of the SU(3) contains/implies SO(3) algebra. The effectiveness of the mapping is illustrated by a comparison of calculated spectra for ground and gamma band states of 168Er.Keywords
