Abstract
This investigation was designed to refine, extend, and cross-validate a multidimensional community adjustment measurement system. A sample of 173 young adults with mild to severe disabilities, located 1 to 6 years after leaving school, was administered 21 measures of community adjustment. Using exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses, six different factors of community adjustment were identified: Personal Satisfaction, Employment Stability, Employment-Economic Integration, Recreation-Leisure Integration, Social Network Integration, and Residential Integration. When combined with similar research, evidence appears to support the identification of at least eight factors of community adaptation. Keywords
