Abstract
RECENTLY, Reimann1 , 2 has collected a group of disorders recurring with rather regular periodicity over many years without otherwise affecting the general health. In different persons the episodes are characterized by different features that, in the person affected, remain remarkably constant in the recurrent attacks. He has classified the disorders into four groups on the basis of the outstanding feature in the attacks; for the whole group of disorders he has proposed the term "periodic disease." The groups are periodic fever, periodic abdominalgia (benign paroxysmal peritonitis), periodic (cyclic) neutropenia and periodic (intermittent) arthralgia.
