PRODUCTIVITY AND PUBLICATIONS PATTERNS IN DEPARTMENTS OF EDUCATIONAL ADMINISTRATION

Abstract
Criteria and procedures for faculty evaluation systems have never been easily or clearly identified, and previous studies on these issues hate produced conflicting or inconclusive data, while information on productivity and publication patterns has been extremely sparce. The research from which the present information is derived was designed to examine possible incongruities between expressed and applied criteria and procedures employed in evaluating faculty members for retention, promotion, and tenure. Productivity and publication records are invariably part of these criteria. Some surprising findings concerning faculty evaluation were uncovered, but one of the most interesting findings concerned the publication patterns of faculty within departments of educational administration.
