Abstract
THERE have now been a number of studies of the prevalence of tobacco smoking among young people in Great Britain and other European countries. However, the only substantial studies of this problem in North America are those conducted in Portland, Oregon, by Horn et al.1 and in Winnipeg, Canada, by Morison and Medovy.2 Studies are under way in Newton, Massachusetts, to derive frequency data for a community in the eastern United States and also to investigate the demographic and psychologic correlates of cigarette smoking among high-school students. The present paper presents initial data on the prevalence and distribution of smoking . . .Keywords
