Abstract
The authors review this diversified field by discussing representative papers under the following headings: the penalties of poor posture, tests and measurements of posture, the biodynamics of standing, the neurological basis of standing, the energy cost of standing, compensations for the hydrostatic effect of gravity, gravity shock or ortho-static circulatory insufficiency, postural changes in respiration, pathological failures in compensation, adaptations for the prevention of orthostatic circulatory insufficiency. This publication has 61 references indexed in Scilit:
