Further Observations on Blood Groups in East African Tribes

Abstract
Blood-group tests are reported of indigenous East Africans: the Hima and Iraqw tribes and a small group of Tswa pygmoids. Specimens were taken in the form of clotted blood by means of "venules" and sent to London for study. Tests for the ABO system were carried out with anti-A, anti-A1, and anti-B; and for the MNS system with anti-M, anti-N, anti-Henshaw, and anti-Hunter. Rh tests were done with anti-C, anti-D, anti-E, and anti-c; all E positive bloods were tested with anti-e and all bloods negative with saline anti-D were tested for the Du antigen by means of indirect Coombs tests using 3 incomplete anti-D sera. Gene and chromosome frequency calculations were determined by methods previously described by Mourant. The results of their findings are included in 4 tables.
