Inheritance and Linkage of Pollen Fertility Restoration in Cytoplasmic Male‐Sterile Crosses of Corn1

Abstract
Synopsis: Pollen fertility restoration in cytoplasmic male‐sterile crosses of corn was found to be due primarily to a single dominant gene (Rf) located on chromosome 3. A positive relationship was noted in some crosses between pollen fertility and plant height. Long photoperiod and possibly high temperature were concluded to have an inhibiting effect on fertility restoration of some inbreds.
