Abstract
Viable embryos of wheat were prepared in gram quantities and from such preparations nuclei and mitochondria were isolated. Embryos were sectioned on a freezing microtome and then gently homogenized in 2 [image] sucrose. Fractionation was accomplished by differential centrifugation. Nuclei thus isolated were morphologically intact and free from impurities: the cytochrome oxidase of the mitochondria had the highest specific activity yet recorded for plant particles. This publication has 12 references indexed in Scilit:
