Multicriteria Model to Determine Flight Frequencies on an Airline Network under Competitive Conditions

Abstract
A multicriteria model is developed to determine flight frequencies on a route network when there is competition. In determining flight frequencies, the focus is placed on maximizing profit, maximizing the number of passengers flown and minimizing the total passenger schedule delay. The problem of determining flight frequencies on a route network is a large combinatorial problem whose optimal solution is difficult to find, and a heuristic approach must therefore be used to solve it. The nonlinear integer problem in the paper is solved using the Monte Carlo technique of randomly generating several solutions and choosing the best among them.
