Abstract
Hemangiomas are the most common of all orbital tumors. Certain characteristic features of cavernous hemangiomas on B-scan ultrasonography facilitate their preoperative recognition. These features include a regular contour, a rounded outline, a sharply defined anterior acoustic border, and relatively good sound transmission. Other hemangiomas show variable ultrasonic patterns, depending on whether or not they are encapsulated. High resolution B-scan ultrasonography, a safe, easily performed examination, can aid in the preoperative diagnosis of hemangiomas of the orbit. B-scan ultrasound can reliably demonstrate the nature and position of hemangiomas of the orbit, facilitating surgical management. Keywords
