Abstract
A simple analytic expression for dispersion-induced composite triple beat in subcarrier multiplexed optical transmission systems has been derived. Measurements of a thirty-two channel octave-confined SCM system confirm the theoretical result, and indicate that distances in excess of 50 km are readily achievable for transmission of AM-VSB video signals, using a directly modulated DFB lasers at 1550 nm wavelength. Keywords
