Abstract
We treat the effect of parametric modulation on the onset of instability in Rayleigh-Bénard and Taylor-Couette geometries. Closed-form solutions are obtained for the case of realistic rigid-boundary conditions. The high-frequency limit of the effect in the Taylor-Couette flow differs from that of Hall. Keywords
