Abstract
A promising start has been made in controlling insect pests by infecting them with virus diseases. Within the past decade specific viruses have been found, propagated, and applied in the field with good results, especially against larvae that feed gregariously on leaves. Perpetuation of disease by virus transmission through the insect egg and other features of virus behaviour ensure that the possibilities of the new method will be fully explored. Keywords
