Abstract
Cholesteryl acetate-cholesteryl octanoate binary system shows an eutectic point and the eutectic has an enantiotropic cholesteric phase, while both components are monotropic. The phase diagram is discussed with the Schröder-van Laar equation. The cholesteric flow on cooling behaves as a colloidal state, of which selective light scattering appears periodically. The once melted solid state is modified to be apparently miscible also in the solid state. Keywords
