Abstract
On the basis of Monte Carlo (MC) data from newly performed simulations for classical one-component plasma (OCP) as well as those from earlier work, we examine critically the validity of the center-of-mass correction through comparative studies on how the computed values of the excess internal energies depend on the number N of the MC particles. It is thereby concluded that the correction cannot be justified for the fluid OCP; an alternative internal-energy formula is derived. Keywords
