Two-Body $B$ Meson Decays to $η$ and $η^{'}$ : Observation of $B \to η K^{*}$

Abstract

In a sample of

19 \times 10^{6}

produced

B

mesons, we have observed the decays

B \to η K^{*}

and improved our previous measurements of

B \to η^{'} K

. The branching fractions we measure for these decay modes are

B (B^{+} \to η K^{* +}) = ({26.4}_{- 8.2}^{+ 9.6} \pm 3.3) \times 10^{- 6}

,

B (B^{0} \to η K^{* 0}) = ({13.8}_{- 4.6}^{+ 5.5} \pm 1.6) \times 10^{- 6}

,

B (B^{+} \to η^{'} K^{+}) = (80_{- 9}^{+ 10} \pm 7) \times 10^{- 6}

, and

B (B^{0} \to η^{'} K^{0}) = (89_{- 16}^{+ 18} \pm 9) \times 10^{- 6}

. We have searched with comparable sensitivity for related decays and report upper limits for these branching fractions.
