Pressure boundary technology program: progress in 1979

Abstract
The goal of the EPRI Pressure Boundary Technology Program is to improve nuclear plant reliability and availabilty. The program is directed toward material characterization, flaw analysis, and fabrication and repair. There are thirteen research topics with more than thirty separate contracts. The largest efforts are development of (1) new trend curves for the prediction of the mechanical properties of irradiated pressure vessel steel, (2) simplified methodology to predict the behavior of ductile materials in the presence of flaws, (3) new corrosion fatigue design curves, and (4) alternative repair weld procedures. The 1979 projects are reviewed and their interrelationships are discussed. The 1979 projects are described briefly in an appendix.
