Abstract
A transparent thoracic window and surgical technique for its implantation in the chest wall of the experimental animal have been developed together with techniques for normal and high speed cinephotomicrography of the living lung within the closed chest. With this more physiologic method, the same pulmonary microfield of the spontaneously breathing animal can be studied chronically over spans of several months. The methods described are applicable to several systems. Keywords
