Abstract
The response of a fixed offshore tower due to ocean waves is investigated. The nonlinear drag forces are included in the formulation and the analysis is performed in the time domain by utilizing simulation techniques of random processes. Numerical results are presented for two towers with different dynamic characteristics. The results include time histories, standard deviations, and spectral densities of response (displacement). A direct comparison has been made between the results obtained by the time domain analysis and by the frequency domain approach using equivalent linearization. Keywords
