Abstract
An extension of the unsymmetrized optical-potential formalism for two-fragment elastic scattering is found which fully incorporates the Pauli principle without the use of complicated projection operators. The discrete singularities of this optical potential are shown to be correlated with the physical resonance structure of the scattering amplitude. Keywords
