Abstract
Data from the literature on mass transfer in stirred suspensions, as well as our own measurements, can be correlated in a plot with (Sh - 2)/Scyli versus the power group (k/J/v*)1''. According to a study of fluid dynamics in stirred suspensions this power group is a reasonable parameter. Comparable states of suspension can be correlated with This relationship is derived from a power balance. Furthermore it can be shown that KolmogorofTs theory is only valid to a limited degree. Mass-transfer from suspended particles may be described by with some link to the well known equations of forced convection mass-transfer. However, simultaneously the solid concentration profile, i.e. the state of suspension, within the tank has to be taken into consideration. Keywords
