Abstract
In the past the patient has had a long-term relationship with a physician and a hospital trusted by the community. In contrast, currently patients may see multiple providers in a rushed environment that may not always be user friendly or completely integrated. Patients who do not feel a connection to the providers may be less reticent about taking legal action. These new exposures related to utilization management, marketing activities, delivery of care, and multiple providers are hard to estimate, since the legal determinations of liability and damages are being created through new case law. Keywords
