METABOLISM FOLLOWING ANOXEMIA

Abstract
Changes in O consumption and concentration of blood lactates consequent on exercise were studied in anesthetized dogs. Arterial pressures and rectal temp. were recorded throughout all experiments. Both O consumption and blood actate concentration increased markedly during exercise and fell off gradually thereafter. No quantitative relationship was discernible between the excess O consumption after exercise and the amount of lactate disappearing from the body as deduced from the observed decline in blood lactates.
