Abstract
The low-temperature oxidation of metals and semiconductors is an electrochemically driven reaction. As such, the ionic and electronic properties of the oxide separating the reactants are critical. It is postulated then that the kinetics of low-temperature oxidation are controlled by the nature of the oxide formed. Keywords
