Abstract
A device is descr. and illustrated whereby part of an opened pregnant uterus can be drawn through an incision in the body wall, fixed mechanically in a fluid-filled plastic box, and observed microscopically. Colored motion pictures have been made at 20x, and injns. or withdrawals of fluid can be accomplished. With aseptic technic observations can be continued for days. Adhesion of the blastocyst to the uterine wall, with complex coordinated physical and chemical changes in uterus and blastocyst, began about 6.5 days after coitus (rabbit), and the sequence was followed accurately for the first time; adhesion occurs 7-7.5 days after coitus. Keywords
