Abstract
The hydrated stannates of barium, calcium, strontium, magnesium, bismuth, lead, cobalt, nickel, zinc, copper, cadmium, iron, and manganese were prepared and their thermal behavior was studied by differential thermal analyses coupled with X‐ray diffraction patterns of calcines. Ceramic bodies were prepared from each of the individual stannates and their dielectric properties were measured. Bodies prepared from the stannates of zinc, copper, cadmium, ferrous and ferric iron, and manganese are semiconductors. The remaining stannates have dielectric constants at 1 mc. ranging from 12 (SrSnO3) to 101 (NiSnO3) and power factors from nearly zero (CaSnO3) to 0.0456 (NiSnO3). Suggestions are made for the utilization of the stannates in barium titanate bodies. Keywords
