Wandering

Abstract
Wandering behavior of older nursing home residents, traditionally viewed as a major problem in geriatric care, has resulted in a number of management, policy, and environmental design controls. This paper describes a study of a sample of matched pairs of wanderers and nonwanderers and offers some psychosocial and management insights for understanding and working more effectively with older people who exhibit various styles of this behavior.
