Abstract
The synthesis of ribosomal RNA by levorphanol is selectively inhibited in E. coli. A concentration of levorphanol which exerts 90-95% inhibition of synthesis of ribosomal RNA allows continued synthesis of messenger and transfer RNA fractions at about 1/2 the rate of a growing control culture. Keywords
