INTERNAL ORBITAL FRACTURES: THE VALUE OF LAMINAGRAPHY IN DIAGNOSIS

Abstract
Laminagraphy is the most accurate method of diagnosis in internal orbital fractures. It was positive in 18 of 19 cases (95%). Clinical examination was positive initially in 16 of 21 cases (76%), although the positive rate was 95% on subsequent clinical re-examination. Routine roentgenographic examination was initially positive in 9 of 21 cases (43%); while, with a subsequent secondary reading of the roentgenograms, the positive rate was 14 of 21 cases (67%). Routine roentgenograms of the orbit should not be relied upon to exclude an internal orbital fracture.
