Abstract
The probability density function (pdf) for ambient temperature is predicted from daily maximum and daily minimum temperature and sunshine, data by means of a climatic model. The shape of each half of the pdf is characterized by a single parameter which can he used directly for the prediction of percentile statistics. The predicted probability density functions are compared with measurements for Alice Springs and Melbourne, Australia. Keywords
