Abstract
Leucothea pulchra sp. nov., a relatively large and abundant lobate ctenophore from the California Bight is described after a 56-year hiatus from scientific scrutiny. Classification and morphological description of L.pulchra are based on recent field and laboratory observations. Blue-water diving enabled observations in the field; video and 35-mm photography in the field and in the laboratory facilitated the analysis of data.
