Cardiac catecholamine synthesis, turnover, and metabolism with isoproterenol-induced myocytolysis

Abstract
Isoproterenol-induced myocytolysis in heart muscle is accompanied by an increased turnover of noradrenaline as a result of increased release of physiologically active neurotransmitter. A decline in noradrenaline content may be prevented by the increased extraction of circulating catecholamines produced in the adrenal medulla.
