An investigation of Parkinson's disease

Abstract
A description is given of a battery of clinical and functional tests used to measure the severity of Parkinson''s disease, using as an example the findings in 1 patient. These findings are discussed. The tests are mainly those for rigidity and tremor of skeletal muscle, of respiratory function using simple ward tests, the cystometrogram, psychologic testing, moving pictures, and roentgenograms. These tests provide a quantitative measurement of the degree of disability as compared with controls. The total assessment of each patient is coded on a key-sort punch card, the use of which is briefly described.
