Abstract
This paper outlines the development and work of Nottingham Advocacy Group, a unique body in the mental health field committed to user empowerment and giving service users a voice. It encompasses three broad forms of advocacy, designed to meet the needs of different groups of people and to operate in somewhat different ways. The essential role of effective user representation in the field of community care is discussed. Keywords
