Abstract
A common and serious error in management of patients with suspicious cervical lymph nodes is immediate biopsy. Enlarged cervical nodes may be the only clinical manifestation of cancer, and a search for the primary lesion takes top priority. Anyone excising such a node should be prepared to follow through with radical neck dissection. The location of a persistent painless enlarged cervical node can be an important lead in finding the primary tumor.
