Abstract
For improvement of a distorted image, knowledge of the point spread of the system is in general required. The available methods usually involve Fourier techniques. If the instrument distortion is small, then it suffices to know only the line spread in a small number of directions. The improved image is obtained simply in terms of the low-order moments of the line spread. Keywords
