Abstract
The concept of exchange hole plays an important role in Slater's approximation to the Hartree-Fock equations. In the present work use is made of analytical variational solutions of the Thomas-Fermi equation for neutral atoms and ions, and an expression is derived for the radius of the exchange hole that depends on the position of the electron considered. Keywords
