A Colour-Magnitude Array for A Region in the Core of the Small Magellanic Cloud

Abstract
Fig. 1 shows the colour–magnitude array for a core region in the Small Magellanic Cloud. Fig. 2 shows the comparable array for a galactic comparison field with an area sixteen times that of the Small Cloud field and at a somewhat lower galactic latitude. The great majority of the stars with – 0.40 < B – V < + 0.40 shown in Fig. 1 and also most stars with B – V < + 1.20 are obviously members of the Small Cloud. Fig. 3 shows that there is no evidence of appreciable effects of galactic or Small Cloud interstellar reddening in our material. The limit of our survey is M v = – 4.Keywords
