Abstract
IT IS the purpose of this paper to report and discuss a patient with cicatrizing ileitis, accompanied by obstruction and abscess, who was observed during the seventh month of pregnancy.Regional ileitis is the most frequent chronic inflammatory disease of the small bowel and its mesentery. After Crohn1 directed attention to this disease in 1932, sufficient operative cases had been reported by 1939 to allow Shapiro2 to tabulate 519. Its occurrence in a severe form during pregnancy, however, has not been reported in the literature. Intestinal obstruction is also an unusual complication of pregnancy.
