Abstract
This article is concerned with the issue that should be uppermost in the minds of those who are in a position to select the computer system for a library that desires to enter the information age, system architecture and capacity. With ten years' experience as the principal architect for Maggie's Place I feel that I am qualified to give some advice to the library manager who is just entering the wonderful world of automated library systems, or those who entered the fray some time ago by purchasing an early turnkey system that now is demonstrating its limitations. Keywords
