Abstract
In 10 normal, adult dogs, the size and weight of the prostate gland were length, 1.9-2.8 cm; width, 1.9-2.7 cm; height, 1.4-2.5 cm; weigth, 4.0-14.5 g; weight in relation to body weight, 0.21-0.57 g/kg. The prostate gland is probably pathologically enlarged if the length, width or height of the gland in an adult dog of medium large or small breeds exceeds 3-3 1/2 cm. The histological structure of the prostate gland in the newborn puppy is described and the pattern of development until sexual maturity is traced. Keywords
