Abstract
The implications of weightlessness as encountered in space flight are discussed, and the known research dealing with the psychological and physiological effects of zero gravity is critically reviewed. Topics are grouped under the headings of orientation, psychomotor performance, and physiological functions, with a special section on methods of research. The major problem area indicated is the effect of weightlessness on gravity oriented sensory mechanisms, particularly the vestibular apparatus, and consequently on both physiological functions and psychomotor performance. An extensive bibliography is included. Keywords
