Excitation Functions of Reactions of 7- to 24-MeV He3 Ions with Cu63 and Cu65

Abstract
Excitation functions of the (He3, p), (He3, n), (He3, 2p), (He3, p2n), (He3, p3n), (He3, α), (He3, αn), and (He3, 2α) reactions on Cu63 and the (He3, n), (He3, 2n), (He3, p2n), (He3, 3n), and (He3, αp) reactions on Cu65 have been measured at incident He3 energies from 7 to 24 MeV. It is shown that the He3 excitation functions are comparable to those of the analogous He4 reactions. Computed cross sections based on the compound-nucleus evaporation model are in qualitative agreement with observed values for both He3 and He4 reactions.
