Abstract
Human foreskin fibroblast cells and primary rabbit kidney cells were compared for efficiency in isolation of herpes simplex virus from 1,100 clinical specimens. Of the fibroblast cultures, 265 were positive, whereas 268 primary rabbit kidney cultures were positive. The results indicate that either cell type is acceptable for diagnostic use. Keywords
