Reflective practice – using a learning journal

Abstract
Reflective practice learning journals have become a valued teaching and learning tool in nurse education, particularly for nursing students from other countries. Here, the author reflects on their use by overseas students as part of an overall strategy to ensure that cross-cultural education programmes are flexible and grounded in the realities of the cultural and healthcare context in which nursing and midwifery practice takes place. The article is based on personal experience and observations made while working with students from many different countries with different professional backgrounds.
