Abstract
The purpose of this study was to investigate the possible existence of a learning sequence for music listening skills associated with the detection of alterations in timbre, rhythm, melodic pitch patterns, and harmony. An author-devised test of aural perception skills was adminstered to 596 first, third, fifth, and seventh grade students. It was found that a learning sequence of timbre, rhythm, melodic pitch patterns, and harmony seemed to exist for the students used in this study. Keywords
