A FLUOROMETRIC METHOD FOR THE DETERMINATION OF ESTROGENS

Abstract
When 60% H2SO4 is added to 0.2 crystalline estrone and estradiol in methyl alcohol, a yellowish-green fluorescent substance is obtained which can be read in a Coleman photofluorometer, with B2; PC-9A filter combination. Using extraction method of Bachman and Petit, as little as 10 ml. of normal urine and 1 ml. pregnancy urine are used in the detn. of urinary estrogens. A survey has shown that there is a general correlation between biologic evidence of estrogenic activity and the fluorometric method described.
