Abstract
An original method for the synthesis of electricity supply networks is presented. The combination of a simple heuristic circuit allocation principle and the latest contingency analysis techniques provides a powerful tool for the development of optimal outline network configurations. Circuit allocation is by an exchange method which has already proved valuable in earlier synthesis studies where group-transfer methods were used to fix continuity of supply conditions. The contingency analysis uses nodal impedance matrix methods to check for line overloads quite dynamically as synthesis proceeds, for specified line additions or removals. Keywords
