Abstract
Since the first edition appeared in 1935, Gradwohl's Clinical Laboratory Methods and Diagnosis has served several generations of physicians and scientists as a reference and teaching textbook in laboratory medicine. It has been 10 years since the previous edition appeared. During that decade, laboratory medicine has experienced dramatic changes in technology. The performance of laboratory tests has increased at a rate of about 15 per cent per year. Procedures now available on a routine basis in many laboratories were unknown 10 years ago.
